Hey there Matheson clan~
Sean and Melissa Sevy here. We have LOVED the huge spike in family get-togethers over the past month. We didn't even get sick of eachother! And what a neat way to celebrate Grandpa Gaylen Jones Matheson's life and the legacy he left for all of us. Not sure about you all, but we sure as heck had no idea about the rich cultural heritage we have in our Scottish roots as the Matheson clan: our own plaid, shield, and creed "Fac Et Spera" (="Do and hope").
This falls right in line with what came up throughout Grandpa's funeral, his legacy of hard work and faith. How fitting!
We are sure there are so many other family treasures that we don't even know about. And thus, this blog. We invite any of you to come on as guest bloggers, or email us any cool family gems you discover. We are not going to contain this solely to the Matheson family, but would also like to share information on any line out from here (Bernard and Alice Johnson, Joel Hills Johnson, Alice McCarthy, Francis Webster, etc).
Our first project is to transcribe Grandpa Bernard Johnson's mission journal, where, as you all know, he worked it with Grandma ;) in addition to having many special spiritual experiences. We hope to post our most recent transcriptions weekly, and we would invite anyone interested to read them and get to know Grandpa in a new way... and perhaps find a piece of ourselves in his story.
On a deeper level, let us each feel the believing blood that runs in our veins, and let this legacy continue undiminished through each of us to the next generation.
Any comments/questions/requests/suggestions/jokes are welcome!
Much love,
Sean and Mel
